Since the technical exchange between UAES and Rohm in 2015, the two sides have established a partnership in the development of automotive applications with SiC power components.
In 2020, the two parties established the "SiC Technology Joint Laboratory" at UAES headquarters in Shanghai, China, to strengthen their cooperation in the development of SiC power solutions. In 2021, Rohm's power solutions, including industry-leading SiC power components and peripheral components, were highly rated by UAES and selected as 优先型 supplier.
After years of close technical cooperation, such as on-board chargers for electric vehicles, on-board products equipped with ROM SiC have been mass produced and adopted.
In order to further improve the efficiency of electric vehicles, the development of advanced inverter modules equipped with Rohm SiC chips is also accelerating, and in order to meet the expanding demand, the two parties have reached this long-term supply contract. In addition, the inverter module equipped with SiC has been delivered to the first customer in November 2023.
In the development of electric vehicle inverters, SiC power components are very important components, because they can be highly efficient power electronics design, so it is very helpful for technical innovations such as extending the range and reducing the battery size of electric vehicles. Under this long-term supply agreement, UAES will ensure the production capacity of SiC power components, an important component in the development of electric vehicle products.
In the future, the two sides will continue to deepen cooperation, accelerate the development of innovative power solutions centered on SiC, and contribute to the technological innovation of automobiles.
